Jess BrownellMost recently described as a combination of Jess from New Girl and Walter from Breaking Bad, this quirky native Coloradan earned her B.A. in Chemistry/Theatre at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA, USA. That’s right, she’s not just a pretty face! Upon graduation, she took a job as an analytical chemist with a pharmaceutical company in the Philadelphia, PA, USA area but left the industry in 2011 to pursue her acting career full-time.

Her most recent work includes: Stella in A Streetcar Named Desire (Khandallah Arts Theatre), Hector/Thersites/Aeneas in Troilus & Cressida (Lonely Shakespeare Collective), Creator/Performer in Camembert (Acts of Kindness), Creator/Performer in Out of Darkness (just be collective), Luciana in Comedy of Errors (Stagecraft Theatre), Creator/Performer in D (just be collective), Catherine in Proof (Allens Lane Theatre), Creator/Performer in Take/Sacrifice (Kaleid Theatre), Creator/Puppeteer in Haste Away Home (GDP Productions), Creator/Performer in No Place Like (Kaleid Theatre), Mortimer in The Fantasticks (Centre Theater), Camillo/Emilia/Player in The Winter’s Tale (Forge Theater), Trumpet Player in Noir (GDP Productions), Margaret McKivan in Independence After Hours (Historic Philadelphia, Inc.), and portraying Betsy Ross at the Betsy Ross House.

After performing in the 2015 New Zealand Fringe Festival and falling in love with Wellington, Jess decided to leave everything behind and move to New Zealand. In 2017 she earned a Masters degree in Teaching and Learning (Secondary), and is now a high school Chemistry teacher. Finally, her love of science and performing have come together!

But don’t worry, she’s still performing on stage and film as much as she can! Follow her on Facebook and Instagram to stay up to date!
